Clinical Observation on 405 Cases of the Tuberculous Spine


Abstract
Clinical Observation on 405 Cases of the Tuberculous Spine who were admitted in Our Lady of Mercy Hospital, Catholic Medical College, during the period of September 1955 through ¢¥August 1964, and Follow Up. Investigation on 87 Cases by written communication were performed.
1) 53.5% of the cases were under 10 years of age. Male: Female = 1.4:1
2) Location: Thoraic 41.2%, Lumber 39.2%, and Cervicall and Lumbosacral, 1.5% in each.
3) Incision and Curettage with Primary Closure were performed for Abscess (22.7%) and Sinus(19.3 % ), and Posterior Spinal Fusion in 400 cases.
4) Hospital Days were less than 3 weeks in 71.5% of the cases.
5) Result revealed Excellent and Good in 77% totally.
